Whiplash symptoms are not always apparent at the time of the accident.
The most common whiplash symptoms occur in the days following an impact (usually within 24-48 hours). Your neck and back muscles may begin to feel stiff and sore due to the stretching and tearing of your muscles and ligaments as inflammation sets in.
For others, it may take weeks or months AFTER the accident to experience symptoms:

A SPRAIN is an injury to a ligament often brought about by a wrench or twist. A sprain can be a simple sprain, or a partial tear or a complete tear.
This can happen to various parts of a person’s body during an accident. It is not uncommon for a person to twist in their seat as a vehicle strikes theirs during the incident.
A STRAIN is an injury to the muscle or tendon caused by overuse, force, or stretching. The force of the car crash can push on a person’s soft tissue or cause parts to stretch in an abnormal way.
Muscles and tendons support your bones. A strain may cause a partial or complete tear in the muscle and tendon combination.
A CONTUSION is an injury to the soft tissue caused by blunt force. This force produces pooling of blood around the injury-causing discoloring of the skin.
This is commonly referred to as a bruise. Bruising can be found in different shapes and colors.
Just like you can end up with a sprain or strain in a car crash, you can also suffer from a herniated/bulging disc.
A herniated disc occurs when one or more vertebrae in your spine either shift out of their natural place or rupture.
A herniated disc can cause pain and long-term complications if it isn't treated immediately.
General back pain is often associated with car accidents, as well. It is critical that you visit a chiropractor after a car accident.
The majority of auto accident knee and leg injuries are due to the vehicle being crushed into the victims during the collision.
This can result in significant leg contusions, fractures, or tearing.

Diversified is the technique that generally results in the popping sound as the chiropractor makes a manual adjustment to correct misaligned or subluxated spinal segments of the neck or back. It is one of the most widely used forms of manipulation in the chiropractic field. The goal is to restore biomechanical function.
A drop table has sections that can be raised about half an inch and then "drop" down with the weight of the patient and adjustment. This system takes advantage of the spine's inherent design of the joints in order to move the spinal segment in the direction that will improve the motion. Upon a gentle thrust downward, the portion of the spinal column positioned above the table section is accelerated down as the table segment is suddenly dropped.
The treatment process is easy and relaxing. First, the doctor will determine the specific area of the spine to target, and configure the decompression machine. Then, the computer-controlled decompression system slowly and precisely stretches your spine, then releases. This increases circulation, hydration, and nutrition to the disk.
I was in a car accident and stuck, I called chiropractor after chiropractor and no one would accept me. I ran across Jefferson Spine & Injury Center while surfing the internet. I had the best experience! My experience started from the time I walked through the door with a smiling face welcoming me to Jefferson Spine & Injury Center. Not only was I taken in quickly, but I actually got the pleasure of meeting Dr. Holcomb. She was absolutely amazing, very personalable, kind, knowledgable patient and willing to listen, and not one time did she make me feel like she was to busy. I can't give enough thanks to Dr. Holcomb and her staff for making me feel like part of their family.
Dr. Holcombe is EXCELLENT! If you ever have back pain for whatever reason, car accident or etc., I highly recommend her. The customer service that she and her staff provides has not been matched for me. I was in a car accident in mid July 2013, (major rear end) and I was referred to a rehab therapist in DC. I just was not feeling any relief from the pain after a few weeks. I happen to be in Costco and a gentleman could actually see the pain in my face and referred me to Dr. Holcombe's office which was a Blessing.
Dr. Holcombe is the best chiropractor in the area. I had the pleasure to be under her care as my chiropractor when I was involved in a serious car accident. From the first appointment I was treated with respect and felt cared for with a warmth and charisma I have not experience before. She makes you feel at ease and makes sure to listen to all of your symptoms which she explains the reasons for and addresses during therapy.
